Parisian Twenties. }

Given one wish, one wish to transport me to live in any place, at any time in history..my wish is always Paris of the 1920's. The Parisian twenties were absolute magic .

the art, the jazz, the fashion, the glittering effervescent splendor..

The twenties were a time of transformation in society.. of change, experimentation, creativity.

Ways of living and mentalities were revolutionalized. The French were just coming out of World War I, a time of distress and low morale, and with the entrance of the '20's and the ending of the war, entered a period of lightness.

After those years of traumatic happenings, it was felt by everyone to release their stress and live by aspirations of joy.

in other words, the Années Folles

 They wanted a more modern lifestyle, to feel more free. They decided to have fun - this was the period of the jazz age, music-hall shows, the theatre, the writing, cafes and bars, department stores and correspondence catalogues.

 Luxurious parties were popular.. reminding me of one Mr. Jay Gatsby's infamous fetes.

The conception of aestheticism , so important to me.
 a philosophy dealing with the nature of beauty, art, and taste, with the creation and appreciation of beauty. So much enormous impact on painting, art, sculpture and design, appearance, the fashion.

The emergence of feminimity is perhaps the most incredible aspect of the twenties, women becoming more independent and deciding to grasp their destiny. Taking on more responsibilities in the war, their ideas were evolving, which continued after the war - changing their status in society to be free to live to their aspirations. Women began to dress how they liked - throwing away their corsets and throwing on short dresses, high heels and bare legs. Thin silhouettes were fashionable. Getting rid of their constraints, yet remaining elegant was the ultimate goal. The sequins, the glitter, the feathers - the beauty. New freedom - like cutting their hair, wearing makeup and perfume.

can you imagine: {wearing a flowing, short, sequin-y dress down a busy parisian street at twilight. headed to the latest soiree.. the fun. the freedom. the glitter. the creativity.} so fun to imagine
